If you have a Chevrolet Aveo car and I asked you to give me a Prado jeep ,will you be able to give that to me?of course not! if you could afford it you probable will have bought it for your self .But many of us in Christendom are promising people Prado jeeps when they don't even have motor cycles.What I am saying essentially is that YOU CANNOT GIVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE.
Before you can love others ,you must have become conversant with loving yourself.I am not referring to being selfish and always thinking of me,myself and I. I am talking about discovering who you really are, coming to terms with yourself and being comfortable with yourself.It does not really make sense to say to another person that you love him or her or that you love God .if you do not love your self.In Mathew 22:39 ,Jesus told us to love our neighbors as we love our selves.How can you then love your neighbor if you don't even know how to love your self.Every body in this world has areas of weakness and strength and the ability for you to identify those areas in your character and take steps to strengthen the weaker areas of your character at the same time remaining patient with yourself is the beginning of the process of loving yourself.Essentially the whole process serves to make you comfortable with who you are to the extent that you could be alone but not lonely
If you feel that you need to get married to feel fulfilled or loved then you have not yet reached the level of loving yourself and definitely not ready for marriage .because this need of yours to be loved in marriage will be the very thing that becomes a problem in the marriage.some of the marriage troubles arise from two self haters that have come together in marriage,and trying to love themselves .This just does not work because both of them will be looking up to the other to meet up with all their needs.
No one human being can meet another human beings spiritual, soul and ego needs.You have to settle this needs all by yourself with your God because you need to be fulfilled in God before you are ready to work towards a fulfilled marriage.
